🔔 How the naughty quiz works

The rules fit in five lines, and that is exactly what makes a round so twitchy: buzz too early and you risk getting it wrong; buzz too late and you have handed the point to somebody else.

The question appears word by word. Nobody gets it in one go: it types itself out on screen, two words at a time.

Buzz whenever you like — with the button or the space bar. Whoever gets there first freezes the text for the whole table.

You alone get the six answers, with nine seconds to pick one. Six options, not four: a lucky guess will not carry you.

Right answer, one point. Wrong answer and you are locked out of that question while the text carries on for everybody else — your slip is their gain.

First to nine points takes it. After twenty-five questions the best score wins on the buzzer — and if it is level, sudden death settles it.

⚔️ The duel

One on one. You throw down the challenge and the game starts the second somebody takes it. This is where the buzzer really bites: with two players, every hesitation costs you.

👥 The group game

Up to eight players, with the host starting the round once everyone is seated. Several games can run at the same time in the room.

👁 The spectator

Not in the mood to play just yet? Pull up a chair next to a game in progress and follow it live, chat and mic included.

🎤 Voice chat

The room keeps its text chat and its mics running through the game, so you can heckle out loud between questions, like a proper pub quiz table.

🏆 The Elo ranking

The same system chess uses: everyone starts on 1200 points. Beating a higher-rated player pays well, losing to a lower-rated one stings. Duels and group games both count, from member level 3 upwards.

🔒 Why you cannot cheat

It is the question we get asked most, so here is the technical answer: the question bank never leaves the server. The text of the question is sent out two words at a time, in step with the reading — there is no way to read ahead. The six options only go to the player who buzzed, and only after they buzz. The correct answer is revealed at the end of the question, once it is all over anyway. With nine seconds to choose between six options, a search engine is slower than your own memory.

Is the naughty quiz free?

Entirely. No subscription, nothing to buy, and no real money anywhere on LibertiChat.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It all happens in your browser, on a computer or a phone. Open the chat, step into the "Naughty Quiz" room, and play.

How long does a game last?

Ten minutes or so on average. The game ends as soon as a player reaches nine points, and after twenty-five questions at the very latest.

Are there any images or videos?

None at all. The naughty quiz is general knowledge with the handbrake off: text, a buzzer and six options. The room is over-18s only because the subjects are grown-up, not because anything is shown.

Do the questions repeat?

With 845 questions drawn at random and a maximum of twenty-five per game, you would have to play an awful lot of rounds before you started going in circles. The bank grows regularly, too.

What happens if I quit mid-game?

The game carries on without you, and walking out counts as a loss on the ranking — same as the other games on the site. There is a button to leave the game without leaving the room.

🔞 Over-18s only. The naughty quiz touches on flirting, the history of manners and grown-up culture, always with a light touch. Nothing explicit, no images: general knowledge questions and nothing else. Access to the room is restricted to adult members.
