👤 Come in as a guest

The fastest way, with no sign-up at all:

1. Open libertichat.com.
2. Pick any nickname that's free.
3. Step into the chat: that's it, you can start talking.

⭐ Create a free account

Free, and worth it if you want to go further:

• Reserve your nickname: nobody else will be able to use it.
• Get your friends list back every time you log in.
• Unlock the Elo rankings, the free weekly chips and the Shop.

📱 On all your devices

LibertiChat runs straight in your browser on mobile, tablet and desktop. There's also an Android app for even quicker access.

🚪 Joining a room

The list of available rooms is shown along the side of the screen.

1. Browse the list of rooms.
2. Click the one that catches your eye.
3. If the room is private, type in its password.

➕ Creating your own room

Click "Create a room", then set:

• The room's name and theme / topic.
• Public or private: adding a password makes the room private (leave it blank for a public room).
• The minimum level needed to get in.
• An age restriction (access may then require an account).
• The number of mics available at the table.

🛠️ Moderating & managing

When you create a room, you become its moderator. You can edit it (change the theme, the settings), appoint other moderators, and delete it whenever you like.

⌨️ Writing a message

Type your text in the bar at the bottom of the screen, then hit Enter or click "Send". Your message shows up straight away for the whole room.

😄 Emojis & GIFs

Add a bit of feeling with the emoji picker, or liven up your message with an animated GIF you search for right inside the chat.

@ Mentioning someone

Start typing a member's nickname to mention them: they'll be notified that you're talking to them.

🗣️ Taking the mic

1. Click the "Talk" button.
2. Allow microphone access in your browser.
3. Start talking: everyone in the room can hear you.

🎧 Automatic settings

No tweaking needed: echo cancellation and noise reduction are applied automatically to keep your voice clear.

🔁 Speaking turns

Some rooms turn on speaking turns: speakers then take the mic one after another, so nobody ends up talking over everyone else.

📻 Picking a room

From Poker, Roulette, Blackjack and the Arena, the 📻 Linked room button lists the public rooms you're allowed to listen in on. One click and you're connected.

🎙️ You're really in it

You hear the room you picked, you can take the mic there, type in it and read what's being said. You show up in their list with a 👻: there in spirit, not in body.

🏠 Coming back

The button turns into 🏠 My table: one click hands you back the chat, the mic and the sound of your own room. Your mic follows you both ways — no need to drop it and grab it again.

🎥 Turning on your camera

Switch on your webcam (optional) to show yourself to the room. You can turn it off again at any time.

👀 Watching other people

Open the camera of any member who is broadcasting theirs and watch them live, without having to share your own.

💬 Taking part without a webcam

Prefer to stay low-key? No problem: you can take part entirely by text, with no webcam and no mic.

🔒 Opening a private conversation

1. Click a member's nickname in the list of participants.
2. Choose to open a private message.
3. Chat in a dedicated window that only the two of you can see.

📖 Finding a conversation again

The History 📖 button at the top of the window brings back your earlier exchanges with that person. Your conversations are still there even after you log out.

The Clear button, on the other hand, only wipes the history on your side.

📱 On your phone

From the Users tab, tapping "private message" takes you straight into the conversation, ready to type.

When several people write to you, each conversation jumps automatically to the latest message when you open it.

➕ Adding a friend

From a member's nickname, click "Add as friend". A request is sent to them.

📋 Your friends list

All your friends live in your friends list, where you can see at a glance who's online.

✅ Handling requests

Accept or decline the friend requests you receive. Creating an account lets you keep your network from one session to the next.

🙈 How to ignore a member

1. Click their nickname in the member list.
2. Click "Ignore".

Their messages are hidden in the room and in private, and their audio is muted for you. You can undo it whenever you want.

🛑 What it blocks

Once you've ignored someone, you no longer get: their messages in the room, their private messages, their voice on the mic, or their game invitations.

↩️ Un-ignoring someone

Click their nickname again, then "Stop ignoring". Everything goes back to normal right away.

The person you ignore is never told about it: they keep on typing without knowing you're no longer reading.

💌 Private mode

With private mode switched on, only your friends can send you private messages. Perfect for keeping unwanted approaches away.

🤝 Still reachable, but on your terms

Private mode doesn't cut you off from the room: you go on chatting, taking the mic and playing as usual. Only private messages are filtered.

To let someone write to you again, just add them to your friends.

🧭 Which tool for which situation

Too many private messages? Switch on private mode.

One particular person bothering you? Ignore them.

Something serious (threats, disturbing content)? Tell a moderator in the room.

✨ A nickname that looks like you

Open the 🛒 Shop. For 1500 chips, you can customise your displayed nickname, including adding emojis to it.

🎨 A colour of your own

For 8000 chips, pick the colour of your nickname for a whole month. The shop offers you a palette to choose from.

The colours reserved for ranks aren't in it: nobody gets to pass themselves off as a moderator.

🪙 Where to find chips

From level 3 onwards, you get 1000 chips every week. You can also win more at the casino.

⚔️ Sending a challenge

From a private message, challenge a member to a game: Chess, Draughts, Connect 4, Othello, Wordle, Battleship, Crazy Eights (Uno-style), Yahtzee, Rummy or Belote.

🏆 Elo rankings

Your wins count: an Elo ranking is kept for each game, and it starts counting from level 3.

👁️ Spectator mode

Feel like watching rather than playing? Spectator mode lets you follow a game in progress.

🕹️ How to play

Click 🕹️ Arcade at the top of the screen, then pick a game. Your game starts immediately: nothing to install, nothing to download.

🧱 Tetris

Stack the pieces and complete lines. The longer you last, the faster it gets. Arrow keys to move, Up to rotate, Space to drop, P to pause.

🐍 Snake

Eat the apples and grow the snake without biting your own tail. Every apple speeds the game up.

👻 Pac-Man

Gobble up every pellet while dodging the ghosts. The power pellets make them vulnerable: time to turn the tables.

💣 Bomberman

Drop bombs, blow up the crates and take out the enemies. Just be careful not to trap yourself in your own blast!

🚩 Minesweeper

Find the mines without ever setting one off. Click to uncover a square, right-click (or long press on mobile) to plant a flag. The faster you are, the more you score.

🏆 The leaderboard

Your best score in each game is saved and puts you on the leaderboard, visible to everyone on the Games page. Only your record counts, so replay as much as you like.

📱 On your phone

A touch controller appears under the game to move around. Minesweeper is played straight on the grid with your finger.

🎯 Beating your record

Only your best score is kept: a bad run will never push you down the leaderboard. Replay as much as you like.

The ↻ Replay button starts a new game without leaving the screen.

⏱️ Nobody can stall you out

Some players used to simply stop moving, hoping you would quit and hand them the win. Not any more: after two minutes without playing a turn (three in chess and Scrabble), the player keeping everyone waiting loses. A warning appears thirty seconds before.

🏆 Elo ranking

Every win earns points, every loss costs some. Beating a stronger opponent is worth more, and a win always earns at least one point — even against someone far below your level.

Ranking is for players of level 3 and above: if either player is below it, the game counts for neither.

🥊 Stepping into the ring

Join the Arene room and click Monter sur le ring. If both seats are taken you join the queue and fight next. The winner stays on.

🎭 Picking your fighter

Once both seats are filled you get twelve seconds to choose among the six characters. The Je suis prêt button starts the fight early if you both agree.

⌨️ Controls

← → move, Z jump, S crouch, Shift guard, J punch, K kick, L throw, M ranged attack. On a phone, a D-pad and five buttons appear on either side.

🎯 The three heights

Crouching hits the legs: less damage, but body attacks sail over you while you do it. Standing hits the body. From the air, or holding up, you aim for the head: far more damage, far more risk.

🛡️ Guard, parry and counter

A high guard covers body and head, a low guard covers body and legs — never both. Raising your guard at the last instant is a parry: no damage at all, and the attacker is left standing there. Hitting an opponent while they wind up is a counter, worth half again as much damage.

🌪️ Ranged attacks

Every character has one: Bibax's dog skims the floor (jump), Magog's platform shoes fly high (crouch), Ulcan's oil makes you slip, Hafid's tears drain your breath, Truand's syringes are the fastest. Pimousse's neck cannot be dodged — it has to be parried.

💨 Breath

Every blow costs breath, which only recovers once you stop. Run out and you collapse for a second and a half with no defence: mashing buttons is punished on the spot.

🎤 The microphone

Only the two fighters may use the microphone during a bout. Spectators comment in writing, in the chat beside the ring.

🏆 The leaderboard

Every win is recorded. The top ten is on the Games page. A registered account is required to fight and to appear there.

▶️ Starting a quiz

Type the /quizz command in the room. Only the room owner or members with the required level can start one.

🏅 Multiple choice & ranking

Questions come up as multiple choice. Whoever finds the right answer fastest scores the most points, and there's a ranking at the end.

📚 Over 500 questions

The questions span 18 categories: history, geography, film, music, sport, science, cooking and more. Plenty to play often without seeing the same ones twice.

🎙️ In the Karaoke room

Head to the Karaoke room. Whoever is on the mic pastes a YouTube link: the music starts, in sync for everyone. Now sing!

🎤 Taking the mic to sing

Only people on the mic can start or stop a video. Take the mic just as you would in any other room, then paste your link.

Everyone else listens, comments by keyboard, and waits their turn to sing.

🔇 If the video won't play

Some videos are blocked from playing outside YouTube by their owner, so they can't be streamed here. Just try another one.

❓ The one command to remember: /aide

Type /aide to display the list of commands available for your rank. It's the best place to start: everyone only sees the commands they're allowed to use.

🧩 Other quick actions

Starting a trivia game with /quizz, ignoring a member, managing your room: most actions are also available as buttons in the interface.

💡 How to type them

A command goes in the usual message box, starting with a forward slash /, then you confirm with Enter.

Some need a nickname after them, for example /ignore Nickname. Moderation commands are reserved for moderators.

🗺️ French, English, Spanish

LibertiChat is available in French, English and Spanish. Pick the interface language that suits you and chat with members from all over the world.

🔐 Protect your details

Never share personal or banking details (address, card number, password and so on) with another member, whatever the excuse.

⚠️ Webcam blackmail

Watch out for webcam blackmail (sextortion). To understand how the trap works and what to do about it, read our blog and its prevention advice.

🚨 Report & ignore

If someone is behaving badly, ignore them and report them to the moderation team. Respect other members and the terms of use.
